My Story My World

My Story My World

Beginning in September 2024, My Story My World became part of the Creativity and Wellbeing for Young People project, a partnership between Ellenbrook Arts, City of Swan Youth Services and KIDS Research Institute Australia, using their SEW-Art Framework (Social and Emotional Wellbeing through the Arts). The project was funded by Healthway and the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries.

The project was created in response to the growing need for creative, inclusive and trauma-informed wellbeing programs for young people aged 5–19 in Ellenbrook and surrounding areas. Through art, it offers young people a welcoming and supportive space to explore their ideas, express themselves and share their stories in their own way.

Throughout 2025, My Story My World grew through a series of creative workshops where young people explored different art forms and found imaginative ways to tell their stories. These experiences came together in the youth exhibition My Art. My Place. This Moment., held from 29 September to 12 October 2025. The exhibition was a special opportunity to celebrate their creativity and bring their ideas, experiences and artwork together. It also helped us better understand how the project could continue to support young people and grow into the program it is today.

In 2026, we continued this journey with another series of creative workshops, encouraging young people to explore their personal stories, lived experiences and connections to the community. The year culminated in the Ellenbrook Youth Exhibition on 2 October 2026, bringing together the artwork, ideas and stories developed throughout the program.

My Story My World continues to create opportunities for young people to express themselves, discover their creative voice and connect with others. Every artwork and every story is valued, helping to build a stronger sense of identity, confidence and belonging through the arts.
