Beginning in September 2024, My Story My World was part of The Creativity and Wellbeing for Young People project. A partnership between us, the City of Swan Youth Services and KIDS Research Institute Australia using their SEW-Art Framework (Social and Emotional Wellbeing through the Arts). Funded by Healthway and the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries.

It addressed the growing need for creative, inclusive, and trauma-informed Wellbeing programs for young people between the ages of 5 and 19 in Ellenbrook and the surrounding area. Creating a safe and empowering space for young people to express themselves through multiple modes of art.

My Story My World began to flourish in 2025 through a year of creative workshops that encouraged young people to tell their stories in meaningful and imaginative ways. These experiences culminated in the youth exhibition "My Art, My Place. This Moment", held from 29 September to 12 October. Seeing the workshops and exhibition come together gave us a deeper understanding of how the project could best support young people, helping My Story My World evolve into the program it is today.

In 2026, we have continued to build on this foundation through another series of workshops, with a stronger focus on personal voice, lived experiences, and the connection between individual identities and the wider community. The project will once again culminate in the Ellenbrook Youth Exhibition in September 5-20, celebrating the creativity, stories and achievements of young people through their art.
